STOCKSCH 109 (Insects of ornamentals) course focuses on the major insect and mite pest insects in landscape settings, their natural enemies and IPM approaches for the insect management in the landscape system. The goal is to provide knowledge and the skills to effectively recognize, understand biology, and the management strategies of the major insect and mite pests attacking shade trees and woody ornamentals in the northeastern U.S. Emphasis on techniques and knowledge useful to the professional in tree care.

For all key pest groups students will learn to identify the insects and their associated injury so they can estimate their damage potential in field situations. Students will understand best management practices for these pests and learn how to locate available resources that can assist in handling specific pest problems.
